AUGUST 2019 –

Last Friday, 6 containers on board mv. APL LE HAVRE caught fire when en route from Karachi to Mumbai.

The incident is the latest in a string of events that seems to be growing in numbers this year. Insurer TT Club has found that there is now a major containership fire every 60 days on average.

Most carriers have acknowledged the need to further ensure safety compliance. Random inspections and high penalties for misdeclared Dangerous Goods are 2 of the most high-profile actions.
